Are we like this only?

Understanding (and shaping) India

About Me

I am an Artificial Intelligence scientist by training, an entrepreneur by trade and a wonderer in my free time. After seven years in the US, I moved back to India  to get my entrepreneurial venture started. Moving back has not been a bed of roses. Work has been a lot of fun and very fulfilling but getting to grips with Mumbai and India has been a challenge.

Whenever I question the status quo be it the traffic snarls, the inefficiencies, the corruption, the lack of cleanliness, etc. the standard response I get is “We are like that only”. Coming from a scientific background, that is not a satisfactory response and begs the question, “Are we like this only?”, and if so, “Why are we like this only?“.

This blog is both a place for me and you to pose the questions and (hopefully) to find solutions. What it is not, is a place to trash the system. Yes, the system is broken, we get that. What can we do to fix it?

  1. “What it is not, is a place to trash the system. Yes, the system is broken, we get that. What can we do to fix it?” — Loved this part, often i have seen blogs, which focus solely on trashing the system and behave as if the system is an entity separate from them. Am glad to find another blogger who is taking ownership and looking for solution on fixing it. 🙂
